Liverpool again emerged the superior side after they they stormed to a comfortable 2-0 win over Everyon in their much talked about Merseyside derby last weekend.

A brace by Mohamed Salah, their Egyptian talisman shot the Reds to the summit of league with 20 points from 9 games, thus firmly putting them in the frame for a shot at the title.

Jurgen Klopp, their German manager did enjoy the victory but expressed his concerns about an usual record reporters reminded him of during the post match conference.

When told that his team had only lost once to their city rivals since he took the reins as the Reds' handler since 2015, Klopp looked lost.

But it was the truth. Klopp's Liverpool has won 10 times against Liverpool in 17 matches in the league in all of that time.

"It is uncomfortable when you tell me about my records, Klopp said.

"I couldn't be less interested in what happened in the past. We weren't thinking about this.

"We understand the importance of the game, the pressure. I can't remember enjoying the thought of a derby.

"There is a lot of intensity before a ball is kicked. It's a special game, a high pressure game. All the players are used to the kind of game. We shouldn't make it too big for players," he added.

Liverpool's only defeat in the past 28 meetings in all competitions was by 2-0 in the top flight at Anfield in February 2021(W14, D13). That victory was Everton's third in the Premier League, and first for 22 years -- after a 1-0 success in 1999 and 2-1 in 1995.

The Toffees failed to score in 26 out of 62 Premier League games with the Reds -- which is their worst record against any opponent.

The Merseyside derby has produced 22 red cards in the Premier League era -- five more than any other fixture.

Klopp may not actually mind so much after his record of dominance over their fellow Merseysiders but that doesn't mean he would lenient when they meet aagy as they challenge for the title this term.
