Rangers sign new shirt deal with Afrivest

Top Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) team, Enugu Rangers International Football Club Tuesday signed a jersey sponsorship agreement with Afrivest.

The deal which was finally consummated after six years of negotiations that began with Davidson Owumi as Rangers’ team manager will see the foremost Eastern-based team don the jersey for every match they play, especially in the league this current season 

The contract according to the sponsors will run through the ongoing 2023/24 season before renewal in subsequent years. The aim is to attract more businesses and financial assistance to the seven-time league leaders.

The governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Chidiebere Onyia praised the  doggedness of the initiators of the deal, saying it spoke volumes about their commitment to see the club strategically positioned to attract corporate partners capable of offering them the support they need for rapid growth.

He thanked Afrivest for the bold decision to partner the club, promising that such support will be fully maximised for the overall good of the club, and the state.

The SSG was also profuse with praise for the duo of Chairman, Christian Chukwu and Emmanuel Okala who were present at the event for their contributions towards Rangers’ achievements and the national team in the past.

Earlier, Afrivest West Africa's Group Managing Director, Ike Chioke could not hide his delight at partnering the club he said he had come to know all his life, insisting that the sponsorship had the potential of uplifting talented young footballers who can in turn become the beacon of hope and restoration for many other young talents.

"Our motivation is in helping a group of different Nigerians who happen to play for Rangers to excel and become professionals and hopefully rise to international standards, they too will in turn help other young people and show them that there is value and pride in doing things professionally. The Enugu State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Lloyd Ekweremadu who signed on behalf of the Enugu State government, described the signing of the agreement as a renaissance of Rangers Football Club.
