After a scoreless first half, substitute Fisayo Dele-Bashiru scored the winning goal as the Super Eagles defeated Libya 1-0 in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture in Uyo on Friday.

The Super Eagles were wasteful in front of the Libyan goal with Alex Iwobi the major culprit

He almost buried Nigeria’s first chance of the game but his shot was saved by Libya goalkeeper Murad Al Wuheeshi.

Despite the Libya. goalkeeper 's heroics, the Nigerians continued to pile more pressure on the visitors’ defence, with Al Wuheeshi standing between Ademola Lookman and goal

Even captain William Troost-Ekong missed his own chance as his shot went wide from inside the box two minutes before the half-hour mark.

The visitors sat back to soak up the pressure and needed Al Wuheeshi to stop another effort from Iwobi in the 40th minute.
