DELTA: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has defended the appointment of his younger brother, Joshua Onoriode Oborevwori, as Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, describing him as eminently qualified for the position.

The governor addressed critics during the swearing-in ceremony of chairpersons and members of various boards and commissions at Government House, Asaba.

Governor Oborevwori emphasized that the appointees were selected based on their track records of excellence, noting, "The men and women sworn in today are individuals with proven performance, who will bring their wealth of experience, expertise, and wisdom to the administration."

He further urged critics to support his brother and other appointees, adding that his administration prioritizes competence over nepotism.

The governor also issued a stern warning to the newly inaugurated officials, stating that anyone who fails to meet performance expectations would face sanctions. "Let me make it clear that this administration will not hesitate to sanction any public official found wanting in their duties or acting contrary to our vision and mandate," he cautioned.

Among those sworn in were members of the Delta State Sports Commission, Procurement Commission, House of Assembly Service Commission, Oil Producing Areas Commission, and Waste Management Board.

The ceremony underscored the administration's commitment to enhancing governance and service delivery across key sectors in Delta State.
