Nigeria confirms participation in Men’s 2025 African Sitting Volleyball Zonal Championship

Nigeria Sitting Volleyball Federation has confirmed it’s participation in the forthcoming Men’s 2025 African Sitting Volleyball Zonal Championship scheduled to hold in Nairobi, Kenya.

Your authoritative and award-winning news channel FIRST ZEALMEDIACAST BLOG, gathered that Team Nigeria Sitting Volleyball alongside host Kenya with five other African countries will serve, spike and strike for one of the two slots for the 2026 World Sitting Championship in China.

The countries are:

? Nigeria
? Rwanda
? Zimbabwe

The African championship is scheduled to hold in Nairobi, Kenya from the 1st to the 10th of July, 2025.

Details of Team Nigeria Sitting Volleyball build up and preparations to Championship is yet to be made public by the Nigeria Volleyball Federation.

Meanwhile, four countries are confirmed their participation in the women’s event. They’re:

? Congo
? Rwanda
? Zimbabwe

Burundi, South Africa and Uganda have indicated interest in the women’s championship but are yet to confirm their participation at the ten day competition in the Kenyan capital.

We gathered that, the Rwanda national Sitting Volleyball team head coach, Mosaad Elaiuty, has named the squads that will represent the country at the 2025 African Sitting Volleyball Zonal Championship, set to take place in Nairobi, Kenya, from July 1 to 10.

Both the men’s and women’s teams will enter a 15-day residential training camp starting today (Monday), aimed at building team cohesion and sharpening skills ahead of the tournament.

The camp will take place in Kigali, with training sessions happening at the NPC Indoor Gymnasium in Kigali from Monday to Friday.

Rwanda is currently ranked second in Africa in the men’s category and first in the women’s, and is looking to maintain its dominance on the continental stage.

The top two teams in both the men’s and women’s categories will qualify automatically for the 2026 Sitting Volleyball World Championships, scheduled for July 10-17 in Hangzhou, China.
