It was glitz and glamour when Legal luminary and
foremost Human Rights activist, Prof Mike Ozekhome, SAN, on Wednesday 12th
March, 2025, received the 2024 Midwest Herald’s “DEFENDER OF DEMOCRACY AWARD”
at a colourful Midwest Herald Achievers Award ceremony held in Benin City, Edo
State.
Ozekhome with HRM, Oba Dokun Thompson Gureje 1V, the
Oloni of Eti-Oni, Osun State; and his wife, Queen Angelique-Monet Gureje
Thompson; HE, Rt. Hon Philip Shaibu and Dr Owen Omo-Ojo, Director of
Organization of Midwest Achievers Award.
Tagged “Legends and Heroes”, the event attracted
dignitaries from far and wide who came to witnrss the investiture of the 2024
winners.
At the event, Prof Ozekhome also presented the keynote
address titled: “Has Democracy led to Good Governance in Nigeria?”
