The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom
Wike, has said he will not allow Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, to use
him to push a presidential ambition, dismissing Mohammed’s alleged plans as
dead on arrival, as reported by DAILY POST.
This statement comes as tensions between the two
political figures continue to expand.
Wike stated that he is not the first opposition member
to serve in a ruling government, challenging criticisms from Mohammed.
In a statement by his media aide, Lere Olayinka, Wike
accused Mohammed of lacking the capacity to lead the PDP Governors’ Forum.
He criticized Mohammed for targeting him over his
appointment as minister, calling it a weak excuse to cover his own leadership
failures.
Wike also questioned Mohammed’s political history and
reminded the public that Mohammed once switched parties after accepting a
ministerial position.
According to Wike, this shows Mohammed’s opportunistic
approach to politics.
The minister argued that Mohammed would have joined
the APC if offered a position in 2015.
He described Mohammed’s actions as a sign of
inconsistency and self-interest.
Wike concluded that he is done engaging with Mohammed
and will focus on more important matters.
He vowed not to be used to support any alleged
presidential ambitions for 2027, which he labeled as ineffective.
“Wike is not the first member of opposition parties in
Nigeria to serve as minister, and he won’t be the last.”
“Now, the same Bala Mohammed, who left the Senatorial
mandate he got as an ANPP member to become minister under a PDP government, is
running his mouth like a faulty tap.”
“As for us, we are done with any object by the name
Bala Mohammed. The reason is, we have better things to do, and we won’t be
available to be used by any ineffectual being to launch a dead-on-arrival 2027
presidential ambition,” he said.
