When Jonathan Said He Didn’t Have Shoes At Age 10, I Said I Didn’t Have Pànts At Age 10 – Mike Ozekhome

Mike Ozekhome, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), recently shared a story about his humble upbringing and the challenges he faced growing up. He explained that he was born into a poor family where he had to work hard every day . He mentioned that because of the tough circumstances, he often didn’t get to eat breakfast until late in the afternoon, around 3 or 4 PM.

In a live coverage by Symfoni TV from 0:58, Ozekhome said when former President Goodluck Jonathan stated that at the age of 10 he didn’t have shoes to wear, he told Jonathan that he was lucky. He explained that at the same age, he his family was so poor that he and other children in the village couldn’t even afford clothes, let alone shoes.

In Ozekhome’s words: “When President Jonathan once told us that his humble beginnings meant that he didn’t even have shoes to put on at the age of 10, I told him sir you were lucky your problem was shoes, at the age of 10 we were still running about the village unclothed because we could not put on pant. So he was even luckier than me”
