OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR, BAYELSA STATE
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has
declared that the state is on the verge of becoming a major industrial hub as
its independent power plant nears completion.
Installation of the 60-megawatt gas turbine
procured by the state government is projected to be completed in December
2025, paving the way for uninterrupted power supply to support businesses
and manufacturing.
Speaking on Thursday at the 41st Annual General
Meeting/Exhibition of the Bayelsa/Rivers branch of the Manufacturers
Association of Nigeria (MAN) in Yenagoa, Governor Diri said his
administration is fully committed to working with manufacturers and partners to
unlock opportunities across the blue economy, agriculture, and manufacturing
sectors.
Bayelsa Creating an Enabling Environment
for Industry
Governor Diri described Bayelsa as a state with immense
potential, noting that his administration has prioritized infrastructure,
security, and power—key elements required to stimulate industrial growth.
“We are creating the right environment for
manufacturing by providing 24-hour electricity and embarking on massive
infrastructure projects,” he said.
He added that Bayelsa is safe for investment,
noting that the government has heavily invested in security infrastructure,
including a technology-driven monitoring system equipped with CCTV cameras
linked to a central control unit.
The governor also praised MAN’s Made in Nigeria
and Nigeria First policies, noting that both align with his
administration’s ASSURED Prosperity Agenda.
Strategic Partnerships Boosting Investor
Confidence
Governor Diri highlighted several ongoing

commerce and tourism extending to the Atlantic coastline.
MAN Leadership Commends Diri’s Initiatives
Delivering a keynote address, Dr. Ifeanyi Okoye
praised the administration for establishing technical and vocational
colleges across all local government areas, describing them as key to
developing relevant skills for industry.
He emphasised that power supply remains critical
to manufacturing and commended the state government’s investment in the
independent power plant.
In his remarks, the National President of MAN, Otunba
Francis Meshioye, called on governors across the Niger Delta to support
local manufacturing to drive economic development, job creation, and peace
in the region.
