The management of Auchi Polytechnic has given staff
and students involved in cultism and other unlawful activities until Friday,
July 10, 2026, to renounce their membership and undergo counselling and
rehabilitation.
The directive was announced by the institution's
Registrar, Mrs. Felicia Eshiotse, in a statement issued after the Polytechnic's
49th Regular Management Meeting held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
According to the Registrar, the institution has
established a Committee on the Renunciation of Cultism and Other Related
Illegal Activities to coordinate efforts aimed at addressing cultism and
promoting a safer academic environment.
Eshiotse said the committee will organise a special
amnesty programme for staff and students willing to renounce cult membership
and other related illegal activities.
The programme is scheduled to hold on Friday, July 10,
2026, at 2:30 p.m. at the Polytechnic Pavilion.
She explained that the initiative is designed to
provide participants with an opportunity to publicly renounce cultism while
receiving counselling and rehabilitation to aid their reintegration into the
academic community.
The Registrar further directed all staff and students
of the institution to attend the programme, stressing that participation is
mandatory.
She warned that individuals who fail to take advantage
of the amnesty initiative may face appropriate sanctions from the Edo State
Government as part of ongoing efforts to eradicate cult-related activities from
the institution.
