The Abia State Police Command has arrested a 52-year-old man over his alleged involvement in a kidnapping operation in the state.

According to preliminary findings by the police, the suspect is believed to be a member of a kidnapping gang linked to a recent abduction incident.

Police operatives reportedly tracked him after receiving actionable intelligence that connected him to the location where a victim was being held.

During the operation, officers successfully rescued the kidnapped victim, who had reportedly been in captivity before the police intervention.

A sum of money suspected to be ransom was also recovered at the scene.

Security officials described the arrest as a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to tackle kidnapping and violent crime across Abia State, especially in areas identified as security flashpoints.

The command urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could help prevent crime and track suspects.
