Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested two
suspected high-profile collaborators linked to Boko Haram in Biu Local
Government Area of Borno State.
The suspects, Dattiwa Ali and Jidda Abdullahi, were
apprehended around 5:00 p.m. on March 15 at Miringa Market following credible
intelligence reports.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the
operation was carried out by troops of the 231 Tank Battalion in collaboration
with local hunters. The suspects were reportedly involved in coordinating a
sleeper cell and stockpiling arms and ammunition for terrorist activities.
“Acting on the intelligence, troops moved swiftly to
the location and successfully arrested the suspects,” a source disclosed.
Items recovered during the operation included two
mobile phones, two wristwatches, and a RAM module, believed to be relevant to
ongoing investigations.
The suspects, along with the recovered items, are
currently in military custody as authorities continue their investigation into
the network and possible wider links to insurgent activities.
The arrest is seen as a significant step in ongoing
efforts to dismantle terrorist support structures in Nigeria’s North-East
region.
