Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen was the saving
grace for Nigeria's Super Eagles on Thursday against the Cheetahs of Benin in
Abidjan.
The Nigerian side had already qualified for the 2025
African Cup of Nations just before the game following the victory of Libya over
Rwanda.
It was Mohammed Tijani who netted the opening goal for
the host in the 16th minute after fumbling goalkeeping from Stanley Nwabali.
All the efforts of the Super Eagles players to level
the game proved abortive throughout the first half.
The 3-time African champions were on the front foot in
the second half but they were unable to come back into the game until the 77th
minute.
Osimhen rose highest to head in a cross from Moses
Simon to make it 1-1.
Both sides tried to win the game towards the end but
all the efforts proved futile as the game ended 1-1.
Already qualified Super Eagles will face Rwanda in the
final game while Benin will play away to Libya.
