Ahead of the resumption of the 2026 FIFA World Cup
qualifiers in March, Zimbabwe's head coach, Michael Nees, has described
Nigeria's Super Eagles as a "wounded lion.
Speaking to CAF media about the teams in their
qualifying group, Nees acknowledged that Nigeria’s current group position does
not reflect their true potential.
He warned that Nigeria would be a formidable opponent:
"In our group, Nigeria is a wounded lion and therefore very dangerous.
Their potential is much greater than their current standing."
Nees further emphasized Nigeria’s strength, saying,
"When you look at the players in Africa, they are undoubtedly one of the
top teams."
