867 Postgraduate Degrees to Be Awarded

Professor Oladiji further revealed that 867 graduands will receive higher degrees, comprising 86 Postgraduate Diplomas (PGD), 627 Master of Technology (MTech) degrees, and 154 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) awards. The postgraduate convocation will hold on Saturday, November 15, 2025.

The Vice Chancellor also announced that the Convocation Lecture, titled “Strategies and Tactics for Solving Skills Challenges in Nigeria: The Roles of Government, Institutions and the Youth,” will be delivered by Prince Adetokunbo Kayode (SAN), a former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, and former Minister of Labour.

FUTA at the Next Level

Speaking under the theme of her address, “FUTA at the Next Level,” Professor Oladiji said the university has been repositioned for a sustainable future built on academic excellence, global competitiveness, and inclusive growth.

“This administration has laid a foundation built on academic excellence, financial sustainability, global competitiveness, and inclusive growth,” she said. “It is a future that seeks to empower staff, inspire students, strengthen communities, and further put Nigeria on the global map of innovation and research.”

She noted that under her leadership, FUTA had enhanced its global partnerships through international research collaborations and faculty exchanges with institutions in Spain, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

Strengthened Global and Industry Partnerships

Professor Oladiji highlighted FUTA’s partnerships with industries and research institutions, including Green Energy International Limited and LekOil Joint Venture, under the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB). The joint five-year research project aims to advance hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation in the Otakikpo Field, Niger Delta, with FUTA staff serving as Lead Researchers.

She also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Visitor to the university, for approving the establishment of a Teaching Hospital for FUTA, a ?1 billion Federal Government special intervention for agricultural commercial farming, and the Students Loan Fund (NELFUND) initiative for indigent students.

“These interventions have raised the bar for the institution — to train professionals in medical and allied fields, enhance food security through large-scale farming, and support students financially,” she said.

Appreciation and Outlook

Professor Oladiji expressed appreciation to FUTA’s Governing Council, staff, students, and alumni for their contributions to the university’s growth, commending their cooperation and commitment to peace and development.

Concluding, she remarked:

“FUTA is now a key player in the global academic arena. It is living up to its reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading citadels of excellence and innovation. Join us as we celebrate excellence during the 36th Convocation Ceremony.”
