Abia Warriors players and officials have proceeded on a 10-day break, effective today, 11th July 2024.
The break, which would have taken place before now, was delayed as a result of the State Governor's intended reception for the team, which will now be held when they resume.
In a brief ceremony held at the Warriors Secretariat, Umuahia, the Chairman of the club, Coach John Obuh while addressing the players and officials thanked them for the achievements they recorded last season noting that they reached the final of the President Federation Cup for the first time in the club's history, a feat which he noted, has drawn attention to the club and the corresponding expectations as well.
He also enjoined the players to redouble their efforts ahead of the new season as expectations from fans and followers of the club would be higher.
The former Nigeria national U-20 and U-17 coach later introduced the new Technical Adviser of the team, Coach Imama Amapakabo to the players.
In his remarks, Coach Imama, thanked the Chairman for the opportunity given him to return to the club, and expressed optimism that his second spell will be an awesome one for the club.
On his part, the former interim Head Coach, Bethel Oji, welcomed Coach Imama and asked the players to extend to the gaffer, same support they gave him as he held sway.
Responding on behalf of the players, team captain, Augustine Njoku thanked the Chairman for his immense support, noting that the welfare packages they enjoyed throughout the 2024/2025 season were unprecedented.
The players and officials will resume from break on 21st July 2024.
