Leaders of the African Democratic Congress in Kebbi
State have called on supporters to intensify grassroots mobilisation and secure
their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as preparations for the 2027 general
elections gather momentum.
Speaking during the party’s congress, Aminu Bande, a
retired major general who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party
to the ADC, urged members to unite and work towards unseating the ruling All
Progressives Congress at both state and national levels.
Bande emphasised the need for collective action,
encouraging supporters to mobilise voters and actively participate in the
electoral process to address what he described as growing challenges facing the
country.
Also addressing party members, former Attorney General
of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, expressed confidence in the party’s future,
urging members to remain committed and resolute. He described recent
high-profile defections into the ADC as a sign of growing strength and momentum
for the party in Kebbi State.
Earlier, the chairman of the congress committee,
Suleiman M. Membo, commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise. He confirmed
that congresses held across the state’s 225 wards and 21 local government areas
were successfully concluded without disputes.
According to him, the process followed all relevant
provisions of the Electoral Act, ensuring transparency in the emergence of the
party’s new leadership structure in the state.
The committee’s secretary, Tukur Aliyu Tartsa, moved a
motion for the adoption of consensus in selecting state executives, which was
seconded by party stalwart Shehu Muhammed Koko.
Following the process, several party officials were
confirmed by affirmation, including Sufiyanu Bala as Chairman, Musa Argungu as
Vice Chairman, Abubakar Kalgo as Secretary, Haruna Haruna Jega as Publicity
Secretary, and Dan Yaro Gwandu as Financial Secretary.
The development signals increasing political activity
and realignment in Kebbi State as parties begin to position themselves ahead of
the next election cycle.
