The Super Eagles of Nigeria delivered a commanding
performance to defeat the Black Stars of Ghana 2–1 in the semifinals of the
2025 Unity Cup held at the GTech Community Stadium, London.
Nigeria opened the scoring in the 14th minute through
Cyriel Dessers, who finished calmly after a well-worked move. The lead was
doubled not long after when pressure from the Nigerian attack forced an own
goal by Ghana’s Razak Simpson. Ghana managed to pull one back in the second
half, but the Super Eagles stood firm to claim a well-deserved win and a place
in the final.
The victory was more than just tactical brilliance on
the pitch - it was also a testament to the passion and unwavering support from
the stands. The Authentic Nigeria Football and Allied Sports Supporters Club
(ANFASSC) once again showed why they are the heartbeat of Nigerian sports fans
worldwide.
From the first whistle to the final minute, ANFASSC
members brought unmatched colour, rhythm, and spirit to the stadium. With
traditional drums, vibrant outfits, and synchronised chants, they transformed
the venue into a sea of green and white, inspiring the team and captivating
global viewers.
Speaking after the match, ANFASSC National President
Prince Abayomi Ogunjimi praised both the team and the supporters for a united
performance.
“It was a match for the history books. Our boys
delivered on the pitch, and our members gave everything in the stands. This is
the power of unity, passion, and patriotism,” he said.
With this victory, Nigeria will face Jamaica in the final of the 2025 Unity Cup. As always, ANFASSC stands ready to rally behind the Super Eagles - not just as supporters, but as a force of national pride.
