The faithful Wednesday December 27,2023 will remain as one of the darkest days in the mind of the good people of Ondo State, south western part of Nigeria with the sudden news of the death of one of their patriot’s and the Executive Governor who passed on to glory after a protracted illness in faraway German.
Born on 27th July 196 hail from Owo, western Region presently Ondo state of Nigeria with affiliation with the defunct ACN, Action congress of Nigeria now known as APC, All progressive congress from 2013 till Date. Survive by the present first Lady of Ondo State Betty Anyanwu - Akeredolu blessed with children.
He was a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), a legal lenumery of note an austunt politician with a difference and a former President of the Nigeria Bar Association from 2008 – 2010 and he will always be remembered for his up rightness on critical state and national issues devoured of any form of compromise.
Notably was his courage to champion the leadership course ahead of the 2023 Presidential elections within the political circle o area in the political circle which Arakunrin as he is fondly call took the bull by the horn to champion the course for the ruling party to consider the need to zone the presidency for the southern Presidential candidate which gave the platform for the then Presidential hopeful Mr Bola Ahmed Tinubu with a life line which he eventually emerge as the APC presidential candidate.
Though his singular political permutation changed the narratives in the entire political struggle as the entire struggle has become history after the emergence of the Jagaban Borgu, as the APC presidential candidate and his success stories as the seating President, Federal republic of Nigeria after May 29th 2023 as observed in the official handing over ceremony in Abuja.
His political will that finally initiated the recognition of the alternative community security services with a legal frame work for the enactment which gave the backing to the establishment of the AMOTEKUN was championed by ARAKUNRIN. The entire south west states are relatedly observing peace as against the manner the alleged Fulani militants where check mated considering the incessant killings experienced within the south west.
In the statement by Mr Bamidele Ademola Olateju the honourable commissioner for information and orientation which finally confirm the speculations on the death of the former Executive Governor of Ondo state Mr Rotimi Akeredolu SAN.
The former executive governor of Ondo state in his private capacity was also the Managing Partner at the law firm of Olujinmi & Akeredolu Associates which he co-founded with Chief Akin Olujinmi, a former Attorney General and Minister for Justice of Nigeria.
Despite the alleged short coming that unravelled the various antics of plans to impeach the incumbent deputy Governor of Ondo state Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa recently, but for the intervention of Mr President as alleged for the state house of Assembly to transmit power to the deputy Governor to act in acting capacity. History has further vindicated an innocent personality to be sworn into office as the substantive executive Governor of Ondo State hence public offices are transient not a birth right of any individual and it is only God that gives and take life.
