Police operatives on Friday laid siege to the Benue State secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Makurdi.
The Benue State chapter of the APC had scheduled a meeting at the secretariat for 1st March by 10 am.
The State Publicity Secretary of the party, Daniel Morgan Ihomon in a statement had quoted the State Chairman, Comrade Austin Agada to have invited people for a post-inaugural meeting with the Executive Director, Housing, Finance and Accounts Dr. Mathias Terwase Byuan.
While the leadership of the party was inviting those concerned for the meeting, a circular came from Government House Makurdi signed by Paul Biam, Chief of Staff to the Governor banning all political gatherings and meetings for security reasons.
On the day of the meeting, stern-looking police operatives were at the APC secretariat to stop everyone from gaining entrance to the secretariat.
