Abubakar Abubakar, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has officially registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State.

He completed his registration on Monday at Gwadabawa Ward in Yola North Local Government Area, where party members and supporters turned out to welcome him.

Speaking after the registration exercise, Abubakar expressed gratitude to party leaders and supporters for the reception accorded him.

“What you see here is the show of support from the people, and I am truly grateful for it,” he said.

He acknowledged various strata of the party leadership in the state, including members of the executive council, women leaders, youth leaders, and the local party chairman, expressing confidence about his political future within the APC.

“I appreciate the APC leadership at all levels — the state executive, women leaders, youth leaders, and the chairman. I also thank the people of Adamawa. I am your son, and I am proud of you. By God’s grace, this political journey will take us far,” he added.

Details on his temporary APC membership slip confirmed his registration in Adamawa State, Yola North Local Government Area, and Gwadabawa Ward.

Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar had earlier clarified that his son’s decision to join the APC was a personal choice guided by individual conviction, noting that differing political affiliations within families are common in democratic societies.

He explained that political pluralism allows individuals, including family members, to pursue separate political paths without conflict.

The move comes months after Atiku Abubakar formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the platform under which he contested the presidency on several occasions.

Following his exit from the PDP, Atiku joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where he is currently working with an ADC-led coalition in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
