Arsenal secured a comfortable victory over Kairat as Mikel Arteta’s side continued their strong form in the UEFA Champions League group stage.

Having already guaranteed a spot in the last 16 and home advantage in the second leg of the knockout stages, Arteta made wholesale changes to the starting XI, giving opportunities to several fringe players. The Premier League leaders faced little resistance from tournament debutants Kairat, who finished bottom of the 36-team table with just one point from eight matches.

German international Kai Havertz made his first start in nearly a year following an injury-hit 12 months, and his performance could prove pivotal for Arsenal’s push for silverware across four competitions this season.

Havertz immediately made an impact, providing a defence-splitting pass for Viktor Gyokeres to score just two minutes into the game, marking his 10th goal of the season. Kairat’s Jorginho responded with a penalty to level the score, but Havertz quickly restored Arsenal’s lead with a first goal of the season from the edge of the area.

The German was also instrumental in Arsenal’s third goal, as his cross was converted by Gabriel Martinelli. Kairat’s Ricardinho scored a late consolation goal deep into stoppage time, giving the visitors a moment of solace after a tough campaign.

Arsenal now look forward to the knockout stages with confidence, while Kairat conclude their debut Champions League experience with a heavy defeat but a memorable goal to end their campaign on a positive note.
