A pregnant woman and nine other people have been
killed in a suspected bandits’ attack on a grain market in Guga village, Bakori
Local Government Area of Katsina State, on Sunday, May 17.
Reports say the attackers stormed the community in
broad daylight and opened fire indiscriminately on traders and residents.
Eyewitnesses noted that the bandits operated for several hours without being
stopped.
Residents said the victims were buried on Monday
morning, May 18, in Guga village after a mass funeral was held in nearby Gidan
Sarkin Noma and Gidan Wawo communities within Bakori LGA.
Locals also revealed that many of those killed were
farmers from neighboring communities, including Gidan Sarkin Noma and Gidan
Wawo, who had travelled to the market to sell their produce.
As of the time of this report, the Katsina State
Police have not commented on the incident.
