The management of Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo
has revealed its plans to introduce digital models to enhance seamless
administrative and academic operations for effective and efficient service
delivery.

Speaking during the inaugural academic board meeting over the weekend, the
Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Henry Ojobo, stressed the need for the
Polytechnic to go digital, explaining that the arrangement would ease the
stress of admission, payment of school fees and access to examinations results
and collection of certificates hitherto faced by students, as well as other
administrative activities.

The rector noted with confidence that the management was also determined and
committed to the introduction of new courses in agriculture and accreditation
for Higher National Diploma (HND) courses in mass communication and other
departments.

Dr. Ojobo disclosed that new directorates would be established in the
institution, revealing that the directorates include: quality assurance and
environment and climate change, and to collaborate with other agencies and
non-governmental organizations to optimize operations for better results.

The rector assured of his commitment to utilizing machines and equipment at the
Engineering Department to enhance optimal productivity and profit maximization.

Ojobo, who sought the support of staff, spirited individuals and donor agencies
for interventions in the renewable energy and road network within the school to
forestall the persistent power outage and access to good roads on campus, also
assured that work would soon commence on the construction of school gate at the
Otukpo – Enugu express way.

While promising to prioritize the welfare of staff, students and the host
community, the rector also warned that nonchalant attitudes by staff such as
absenteeism and unguarded utterances and social vices such as cultism,
examinations malpractice among others would not be tolerated, pointing out that
stringent and decisive disciplinary measures would be taken against erring
staff and students, accordingly.

The rector, who appreciated the Executive Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth
Alia for finding him worthy of the appointment, assured that he would do
everything within his powers to uplift the polytechnic to enviable heights.

In their separate comments, the Dean, School of Arts, Design and Printing, Mrs
Aji Ori and the Dean, School of Engineering, Engr. Shankyura Terungwa on behalf
of staff, pledged their loyalty and continued support to the new rector to
enable him to succeed.
