The company stated that the Economy option remains active and is, in fact, the most in-demand ride option in Port Harcourt. However, Bolt has deactivated the Economy category for drivers found guilty of multiple misconducts, particularly those soliciting offline trips.

Offline trips—rides conducted outside the Bolt app—are considered fraudulent and violate Bolt's terms of service. Such trips bypass the platform's safety features, including GPS tracking and emergency support, posing risks to both drivers and passengers.

The Amalgamated Union of App-Based Transporters of Nigeria (AUATON) had raised concerns about the removal of the Economy category and changes in fare displays. Bolt responded that these updates are part of efforts to enhance service quality and monitor driver conduct more effectively.

Bolt emphasized its commitment to maintaining a safe and reliable platform, stating that drivers engaging in repeated misconduct, such as soliciting offline trips, may face account suspension or deactivation.

Riders are advised to report any instances of offline trip solicitations through the Bolt app to ensure their safety and uphold the platform's standards.
