The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has officially closed its 2025 nationwide recruitment portal after receiving over 1.9 million applications from across Nigeria.

According to figures released by the board, Kogi, Kaduna, Benue, and Katsina States recorded the highest applicant numbers, with Kogi alone submitting 116,239 entries, followed closely by Kaduna (114,592) and Benue (110,635). Katsina came in fourth with 76,901 applications.

The recruitment exercise, initially scheduled to close on June 26, suffered multiple delays due to persistent portal failures. It was rescheduled to July 14, then July 21, before finally shutting down at midnight on August 11, 2025—a week after the extended August 4 deadline.

In a statement via its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the CDCFIB thanked applicants for their interest and assured them that shortlisted candidates would be contacted soon.

“The official recruitment portal for the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board is now closed. We thank all applicants for their interest and commitment to serving with honour, integrity, and national pride.
Next Step! Shortlisted candidates will be contacted shortly with further instructions. Please monitor your email and text messages over the coming weeks for notifications. We also encourage you to regularly check the portal and social media handles for important updates,” the statement read.

The recruitment targeted Nigerian citizens between 18 and 35 years old, with specific height requirements (1.65m for men and 1.60m for women), a clean criminal record, and proof of mental and physical fitness. While the minimum educational requirement was an SSCE with credits, applicants with degrees in fields such as law, engineering, medicine, and technical trades were strongly encouraged to apply.

The exercise covered four paramilitary agencies under the CDCFIB:

  • Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)
  • Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS)
  • Federal Fire Service (FFS)
  • Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS)

Applicants could choose from three cadres—Superintendent (A), Inspectorate (B), or Assistant (C)—with roles ranging from professional officers to drivers, clerical staff, and administrative officers.
