The Delta State Police Command has intercepted a
Toyota Sienna allegedly conveying suspected illicit drugs and military-related
items in the state.
The operation led to the arrest of the vehicle’s
driver, identified as 45-year-old Isaac Urji.
The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said the
vehicle was intercepted on September 18, 2026, by operatives of the Command
Anti-Cult Unit (CACU), Asaba, following credible intelligence.
According to Edafe, the police received information
that a Sienna vehicle carrying suspected illicit drugs and military
accoutrement was travelling from Onitsha in Anambra State towards Ondo State.
Acting on the intelligence, the operatives mounted
surveillance along the suspected route and intercepted a green Toyota Sienna
with registration number KP 527 AAA, driven by Urji.
A search of the vehicle allegedly led to the discovery
of cartons containing suspected Tramadol and other illicit drugs, as well as
military camouflage uniforms, boots and hats.
The driver was subsequently arrested, while the
recovered items and vehicle were taken into police custody.
Edafe said an investigation had commenced to determine
the source and intended destination of the seized items and identify other
individuals who may be connected to the consignment.
He added that the suspect would be charged to court
upon the conclusion of the investigation.
