President Bola Tinubu has recalled how he drove a taxi
and took up different jobs in the United States to finance his university
education.
The President shared the experience in a post on X
this morning while highlighting his administration's achievements in the
education sector.
"When I first arrived in the United States as a
young man, I drove a taxi to earn money for my education," he wrote.
"I even had to postpone starting school for several months to save
enough."
He said that when he eventually got to Chicago, he
worked different jobs to support himself and pay his way through university.
"I know what it means to worry about tuition, accommodation and how to
make ends meet while pursuing an education," he said. "Those
experiences have stayed with me."
Tinubu added that he knows what education made
possible in his own life and believes every Nigerian child deserves the same
opportunity, regardless of where they are born or what their parents can
afford.
