Doma United FC have officially earned promotion to the
Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), becoming the first side to confirm
their return from the Nigeria National League (NNL) this season.
The achievement represents a remarkable comeback for
the Gombe-based club, which dropped out of the top division two seasons ago but
has since worked its way back with a strong and focused campaign.
Competing in Conference C, Doma United finished at the
top of the table with 26 points from 13 matches. Their success was largely
driven by a solid defensive structure, as they conceded only eight goals while
scoring 17 throughout the season.
Their impressive home record played a key role in
securing promotion, with seven victories recorded on home soil. Although their
away form included just one win, two draws, and three losses, it proved
sufficient to maintain their lead and secure qualification.
This promotion marks the club’s second appearance in
the NPFL and highlights a quick recovery following their relegation in the
2023/24 season. In contrast, their local rivals Gombe United, who were
relegated at the same time, are still pushing for a return to the top tier.
Elsewhere in the NNL promotion race, Ranchers Bees
secured their place in the NPFL after finishing top of Conference D with 20
points from 11 matches. Beyond Limits led Conference A with 25 points, while
Akwa United topped Conference B with 28 points.
Meanwhile, Sporting Supreme withdrew from the league,
adding an unexpected twist to the season’s competition.
