Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has officially launched EBOCAB, a new ride-hailing service aimed at enhancing transportation within the state. The initiative seeks to provide a safer, more efficient alternative to existing transport options, particularly in response to concerns over harassment and theft associated with some tricycle operators.

 Key Highlights of EBOCAB Launch

  • Objective: To offer a regulated, comfortable, and technology-driven taxi service that addresses security concerns and improves mobility for residents.
  • Fleet Composition: The service begins with 60 brand-new pickup vans and 30 SUVs, designed to serve both city commuters and air travelers using the state's airport.
  • Technology Integration: EBOCAB operates through a mobile application available on Google Play and Apple App Store, enabling users to book rides and connect with drivers within five minutes.
  • Economic Impact: The project is expected to create employment opportunities for drivers and support staff, contributing to the state's economic growth.
  • Security Measures: By digitizing the transportation system, the government aims to reduce crime and enhance the safety of commuters.

Governor Nwifuru emphasized that the establishment of EBOCAB was driven by the need to provide smart and cost-effective transport alternatives, ensuring that residents can move freely and safely within the state
