German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt have
completed the signing of Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika from Belgian
champions Club Brugge.
The 25-year-old Nigeria international has signed a
contract that will keep him at the club until June 30, 2031, with the
transfer reportedly valued at around €10 million (over ?15 billion).
Confirming the move, Eintracht Frankfurt announced
that Onyedika will wear the No. 25 jersey after both clubs reached an
agreement on the transfer.
Speaking on the club's official website, Eintracht
Frankfurt's Sporting Director, Markus Krosche, praised the midfielder's
qualities and explained why he was identified as a key addition to the squad.
"Raphael Onyedika impresses us not only with his
physical strength and tactical intelligence but also with his remarkable
consistency. He has been a regular starter for several years and has won
several titles in Belgium," Krosche said.
He added that Onyedika's international experience and
room for further development made him an important signing for the Bundesliga
side.
"At 25, he still has significant potential to
grow and will play an important role in the structure of our squad," he
added.
Onyedika arrives in Germany after an impressive spell
with Club Brugge, where he established himself as one of the club's key
midfielders. During his senior career, he has made 268 appearances,
including 24 UEFA Champions League matches over the past three seasons.
The Nigerian midfielder won two Belgian league titles with Club Brugge, as well as the Belgian Cup and Belgian Super Cup. Before moving to Belgium, he also lifted the Danish Cup with FC Midtjylland, where he began his European career.
