Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has
made an astonishing move to boost job security for ad-hoc workers in local
government areas.
This is just had the governor on Tuesday approved conversion of ad hoc
staff to permanent staff status during the commissioning ceremony of the local
government house and staff training school at Agodi, Ibadan.
“This milestone underscores my
administration’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of local government
employees,” Governor Makinde stated.
He directed the Commissioner for Local
Government to establish the necessary modalities for this conversion within
four weeks.
This initiative is part of the
administration’s broader strategy to collaborate with local governments and
deliver democracy’s benefits to the people.
The newly commissioned building marks a
landmark achievement as the first modern structure for the local government
sector.
Governor Makinde noted, “This progress
counters assertions that my administration is undermining local government
operations.” He signaled the start of renovations for facilities in the
Secretariat.
This development aligns with Governor
Makinde’s ongoing commitment to supporting civil servants.
Previously, he sanctioned the promotion of
over 7,000 civil and public servants whose promotions were due in 2022.
Additionally, his administration reinstated
workers unjustly dismissed by the former administration, further demonstrating
his dedication to workers’ welfare.
