The Federal Government, state governments and local
government councils shared a total of N1.969 trillion as Federation Account
revenue for December 2025 at the January 2026 meeting of the Federation Account
Allocation Committee (FAAC) in Abuja.
The breakdown was disclosed on Monday in a statement
by the Director of Press and Public Relations in the Office of the
Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF), Bawa Mokwa.
According to the statement, the total distributable
revenue comprised ?1.084 trillion from statutory revenue, N846.507 billion from
Value Added Tax (VAT), and N38.110 billion from the Electronic Money Transfer
Levy (EMTL).
Mokwa said gross revenue available for the month stood
at N2.585 trillion. From this amount, N104.697 billion was deducted as cost of
collection, while N511.585 billion went to transfers, refunds and savings.
He added that local government councils received N513.272 billion in total, while oil-producing states got N96.083 billion as
derivation revenue, representing 13 per cent of mineral earnings.
From the N1.084 trillion statutory revenue, the
Federal Government received N520.807 billion, state governments got N264.160
billion, and local governments received N203.656 billion. The derivation
component of N96.083 billion was shared among eligible states.
Overall, the Federal Government received N653.500
billion from the N1.969 trillion total distributable revenue, while states
received N706.469 billion.
A breakdown of VAT revenue showed that the Federal
Government received N126.976 billion, state governments got N423.254 billion,
and local governments received N296.277 billion.
From the EMTL proceeds, the Federal Government earned N5.717 billion, state governments received N19.055 billion, while local
government councils got N13.338 billion.
Mokwa noted that revenue from Companies Income Tax
(CIT), Capital Gains Tax (CGT), Stamp Duties (STD), import duty and VAT
recorded significant increases in December. Oil and gas royalty, CET levies and
fees also rose marginally.
However, he said collections from Excise Duty,
Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT), Hydrocarbon Tax (HT) and EMTL declined during the
period.
The December allocation was lower than the N1.928
trillion shared in November 2025. FAAC records showed that November’s
distributable revenue consisted of N1.403 trillion in statutory revenue, N485.838 billion from VAT and N39.646 billion from EMTL.
Total gross revenue for November stood at N2.343
trillion, with N84.251 billion deducted as cost of collection and N330.625
billion applied to transfers, interventions, refunds and savings.
