The “Fix PDP Fix Nigeria” group is urging the National
Assembly to pass a bill that would require major oil companies to relocate
their headquarters to their operational bases in the Niger Delta region.
According to Mr. Ejiro Odibo, a member of the group
from Delta State, this move would help reduce poverty and insecurity in the
region by creating more job opportunities for the local population.
Mr. Odibo criticized the proposed tax reform bill,
calling it a “capitalist bill” that would further impoverish the poor. Instead,
he urged the Senate to prioritize the passage of the oil companies’ relocation
bill.
NigerThe group believes that relocating the
headquarters of oil companies to their operational bases would have a positive
impact on the region’s economy and improve the lives of the local people.
