Jean-Louis Gasset have been named as the
new coach of Olympic Marseille following the sack of Gennaro Gattuso.
The 70-year-old was sacked by the Ivory Coast during the group
stage of the Africa Cup of Nations last month as their hopes of reaching the
knockout phase hung by a thread.
The Ivory Coast subsequently went on to
win the competition on home soil under replacement manager Emerse Fae.
Frenchman Gasset started his managerial
career in 1998 with French club Montpellier and has also spent time in charge
of Caen, Istres, St-Etienne and Bordeaux.
Gasset told Marseille's official
website: "It's a huge honour for me to be joining this legendary club,
Olympique de Marseille. I can't wait to start working with this group to
prepare for the upcoming fixtures and give the best of ourselves."
