Former Southampton and Royal Antwerp forward Victor Udoh has tragically died at the age of 21.

The young Nigerian footballer was found dead in Abuja, Nigeria. While the exact cause of his passing has not been officially confirmed, reports indicate that his sudden death occurred under suspicious circumstances.

Udoh joined English club Southampton in February 2025 but left St Mary's just seven months into a three-and-a-half-year contract. In search of regular first-team football, he departed by mutual consent in September 2025 and subsequently signed a three-year deal with Czech second-division side Dynamo Ceske Budejovice.

Before his move to England, Udoh began his European football journey with Belgian giants Royal Antwerp, who signed him at the age of 18 from the Abuja-based club Hypebuzz. He quickly made an impact in Belgium, proving prolific for Antwerp's reserve team by scoring 12 goals in 21 games. His impressive performances earned him a senior team debut at 19, and he went on to make 28 official appearances for the club before his transfer to Southampton.

Southampton paid tribute to their former player in a heartfelt statement: "We are devastated by the tragic passing of former player Victor Udoh at the age of 21. The thoughts of everyone at Saints FC go out to Victor's loved ones at this extremely difficult time."

Royal Antwerp also expressed their deep sorrow, sharing condolences with his family. "With great dismay, RAFC has learned of the passing of former player Victor Udoh (21)," the club stated. "Victor arrived at the Bosuil in the 2023/2024 season, where in his first season with the Young Reds he managed to score twelve times in 21 matches. That season, he also made his official debut for the first team in the home match against Charleroi. In total, Victor appeared officially 28 times for The Great Old and provided two assists, before making the move to Southampton."

The Belgian club added, "Our thoughts are with Victor's family, friends, and loved ones. We wish them much strength, support, and warmth during this particularly difficult time. Rest in peace, Victor."
