Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party (LP)
candidate in the 2023 Lagos State governorship election, has weighed in on
a viral video where former Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru
Obasa, referred to Lagos as “Our Lagos.”
In the video shared by Rhodes-Vivour on his official X
handle, Obasa addressed journalists, alleging that his residences in GRA and
Agege had been invaded by the police.
Expressing frustration, Obasa remarked, “They invaded
my house in GRA, invaded my house in Agege, that doesn’t make sense. Lagos! Our
Lagos! This is a state that others look up to, and we must not denigrate
Lagos.”
Reacting to the comment, Rhodes-Vivour pointed out the
irony in Obasa’s sudden appeal to collective ownership of Lagos when faced with
personal challenges.
In a post on his X handle, he wrote, “When they
experience the injustice and illegality they dish out to others, that’s
when they remember that, indeed, it is Our Lagos.”
