Hansi Flick has confirmed that he has signed a new two-year contract extension with FC Barcelona, with an option for a third year, following a successful spell in charge of the club.

The 61-year-old German manager made the announcement after guiding Barcelona to their second consecutive LaLiga title with a 2-0 win over arch-rivals Real Madrid.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of Barcelona’s league clash with Deportivo Alavés, Flick expressed satisfaction with the new deal, saying it gives him stability and confidence to continue building the team.

“Obviously, I'm very happy; it gives me the confidence to keep working for another year or two,” he said.

Flick explained that while many coaches prefer long-term contracts, he values flexibility in his arrangement with Barcelona.

“We’ll continue until 2028. If all goes well, we’ll decide to carry on. I have the right to stop, and so does the club,” he added.

Since joining Barcelona in 2024, Flick has reportedly won two LaLiga titles, one Copa del Rey, and two Spanish Super Cups, marking a highly successful start to his tenure.

He also set a new target for the team, stating that his immediate focus is to push Barcelona beyond the 100-point mark in the league this season.

“Our goal is to reach 100 points, and to do so we have to win all three matches,” he said. “We have celebrated the title a lot, but now we can play well.”

Despite domestic success, Barcelona’s Champions League ambitions have fallen short, including a quarter-final exit against Atlético Madrid this season.

Flick stressed that winning Europe’s top competition remains a key objective.

“Everyone dreams of the Champions League. We have tried, and we will keep trying. I am grateful for the trust to continue,” he said.

The German coach added that the club’s long-term ambition is to consistently compete at the highest level and win more major trophies in the coming seasons.
