The Labour Party has expressed confidence in its
ability to win the 2027 presidential election without forming a coalition ,
as reported by PUNCH.
The party believes its strong grassroots support and
appeal to Nigerians will be enough to secure victory.
The Labour Party’s National Publicity Secretary,
Obiora Ifoh, stated that the party’s performance in the 2023 elections showed
its strength and ability to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress
independently.
Speaking in an interview, Ifoh dismissed rumors about
a coalition with Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party and Atiku
Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party.
He clarified that no discussions on forming alliances
had taken place and noted that the party did not rely on coalitions in 2023.
Nigerians gave their votes because they believed in
its vision.
He argued that despite challenges in 2023, Labour
Party remains a formidable force.
Ifoh added that if elections were held today, the
party would perform even better due to widespread dissatisfaction with the
current administration.
He stated that the party’s policies and vision connect
with the needs of Nigerians at this moment.
“Labour Party didn’t need any coalition in 2023
when it gathered millions of votes from Nigerians who wanted Labour Party to
take over the leadership of the nation.”
“We know LP has what it takes to win elections at the
highest level and we demonstrated that in 2023. If elections were to hold again
today, Labour Party would even do it in a bigger way because the government of
the day has failed,” he said.
