The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has
appointed Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Anietie Iniedu as the new Public
Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force.
The appointment was announced on Friday in a statement
issued by the outgoing Force spokesman, ACP Anthony Placid, who described
Iniedu as a highly experienced officer with a strong background in public
communication, operational policing, intelligence management, institutional
accountability and administration.
According to the statement, Iniedu, who hails from
Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, holds a Bachelor of Science
degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo. He has also undergone
several professional trainings in investigative interviewing, crime scene

intelligence analysis.
He succeeds Anthony Placid, who assumed the role of
Force Public Relations Officer in March 2026.
Prior to his appointment, Iniedu served as Head of the
Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he
coordinated public complaint management and spearheaded initiatives aimed at
promoting transparency, accountability and public confidence in the Nigeria
Police Force.
The newly appointed spokesman is no stranger to public
communication, having previously served as Public Relations Officer of the
Police College of Information Technology in Kobape, Ogun State.
Throughout his career, Iniedu has held several
strategic operational and administrative positions within the Force. His
previous assignments include Operations Officer at Maisandari Division in Yobe
State Command, Area Crime Officer at Umuahia Area Command in Abia State, and
Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat, Force Headquarters.
He also served as Second-in-Command of the 50 Police
Mobile Force Squadron in Kubwa and as Officer-in-Charge of the Force
Headquarters Situation Room, where he oversaw the coordination and
dissemination of crime and security information across the country.
The Inspector-General of Police expressed confidence
in Iniedu’s ability to lead the Force Public Relations Department, noting that
his extensive experience and professional competence would strengthen the
Force’s strategic communication efforts.
According to the IGP, the appointment is expected to
enhance public engagement and support ongoing reforms aimed at improving
policing standards, accountability and operational effectiveness across the
country.
