Ivan Toney’s long-awaited return to action helped Brentford edge
out Nottingham Forest in a five-goal thriller.
The hosts fell behind early on when a botched clearance
allowed Danilo to produce a stunning volley from the edge of the area.
Toney marked his comeback with a well-worked free kick which
was driven low around the Forest wall to catch out Matt Turner at his far post.
Thomas Frank’s side continued to step things up after the
interval as Ben Mee powered home a header from Mathias Jensen’s corner.
Chris Wood soon put the Tricky Trees back on a level footing
with a flick-on header past Mark Flekken from a Callum Hudson-Odoi delivery.
But Neal Maupay tipped the balance by restoring the Bees’
lead inside just three minutes through a half-volley after bringing down Mads
Roerslev’s cross.
