A former federal lawmaker, Jonathan Zwingina,
has reportedly died.
The former Senate Majority leader and the head
of the MKO Abiola campaign during the June 12, 1993, presidential election
passed away at 70.
While his relatives have not officially
announced his passing, Leadership Newspaper reports that Zwingina, who hailed
from Adamawa State, died on Wednesday, October 2, in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital
city.
Zwingina served as a Senator for the Adamawa
South Senatorial District and was one of the original members of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP).
However, he later switched his allegiance to
the All Progressives Congress (APC).
