It was a clean sweep of all the medals in both the male and female category by the Kenyans at the 10th edition of the Okpekpe International 10km road race which took place on Saturday 25th of May 2024.
In the male category, Pingua Zakaya Edward burst the tape in a time of 0:29:31 beating his compatriot Isaac Kimpemboi who finished in a time of 0:29:36. Alex Oloitiptip Kario came third in a time of 0:29:37.
In the female category, Glady Kwamboka finished first in atime of 0:33:05. She was followed by Regina Wambul 0:33:38 and Sheila Cherotich who clocked 0:34:27.
In an exclusive interview with Just Liberation News Sports, Pingua Zakaya Edwards thanked God foe his victory. He said it was a very tough race as his fellow competitors made the race very difficult for him. He promised to return for the next edition to defend his title.
Notable personalities like Senator Adams Oshiomhole (Edo North) and social activist Omoleye Sowore took part in the race.
