EFCC Speaks

Speaking on the arrests, EFCC Zonal Commander, Michael Nzekwe, said:

“The growing number of cybercrime cases in Kwara is disturbing. Our latest operation led to the arrest of 134 suspected fraudsters in various locations within the state. This is part of our continuous efforts to rid the country of internet fraud.”

Why Kwara?

Reports indicate that Kwara State, particularly Ilorin, has witnessed a surge in internet fraud activities in recent years due to:

  • Perceived easy money culture

EFCC’s Warning to Youth

The EFCC has issued a stern warning to Nigerian youths to shun internet fraud and channel their energy into productive ventures. The agency also promised to sustain its crackdown on cybercriminals across the country.

Public Reaction

The news has sparked widespread discussions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing concern over the rising rate of cybercrime in Kwara State and calling for more sensitization and empowerment programs for the youth.
