The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
has revealed that Kwara State is fast becoming a major hotspot for internet
fraud, popularly known as "Yahoo Yahoo" in Nigeria. In March 2025
alone, the EFCC disclosed that it arrested no fewer than 134 suspected internet
fraudsters across different locations in the state.
Arrest Breakdown
The arrests were carried out by operatives of the
Ilorin Zonal Command of the EFCC, covering Ilorin and its surrounding areas.
According to the agency, the suspects were apprehended following intelligence
reports and weeks of surveillance.

Speaking on the arrests, EFCC Zonal Commander, Michael
Nzekwe, said:
“The growing number of cybercrime cases in
Kwara is disturbing. Our latest operation led to the arrest of 134 suspected
fraudsters in various locations within the state. This is part of our
continuous efforts to rid the country of internet fraud.”
