I have decided to
respond swiftly to this development which has the semblance of what happened in
Nasarawa State sometimes ago.
Without mincing
words, the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA), is the body vested with
Football Administration in the State. Lagos State Football Coaches Association
(LSFCA) is an affiliate and member of the Football Congress in Lagos State.
With the reasons
adduced by the Lagos State Football Association, I see a situation where
Ignorance or Lack of Knowledge has played a major role in what is evolving.
Interestingly, the issue in contention is commendable. I am talking about
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Institute for Sports (NIS).
I applaud the effort of LSFA and the LSFCA. Why are they fighting instead of
working together to strengthen this initiative? It is puzzling. I am finding it
difficult to understand.
I expected the
Lagos State Football Association Chairman to call the LSFCA Leadership to
inform them about this project which has direct bearing on the Coaches. The
LSFCA will have to reason to say no to the gesture because it is for the growth
of Football. If there was previous
interaction that was turned down by the LSFCA, I expected the LSFA to follow
procedure by issuing a query to the Leadership of LSFCA for insubordination or
any other reasons as contained in the Statutes. The Chairman or whoever is
insubordinate will be required to explain.
Let me not dwell
too long on one segment of this issue. The letter of dismissal issued to the
Lagos State Football Coaches Association (LSFCA) from my understanding affects
all members of the Association. The Coaches are to stay away from their Clubs.
Coaches from Lagos State aspiring to participate in the revived NFF CAF B
License course coming up soon are exempted. Is it the LSFCA Executive that has
been dismissed or entire members of the Association? There is need for further
clarification, please.
Let me also make
it clear that certain actions may be seen as impunity especially when an
elected Executive is dissolved, dismissed, suspended or sacked with a letter
that is not seen as complete in its content. Even regimental bodies have
procedures in handling problems.
Let me also remind
the LSFA that, not too long ago, they went through a crisis that consumed the
former Chairman. Hajji Gafar Liameed was unanimously approved to occupy the
position of Chairman, LSFA. He must manage crisis effectively and efficiently
too especially that it affects the major stakeholders who are directly linked
to the players. In addition Coaches should be handled with respect. They
shouldn't be treated with ignominy. Coaches must show responsibility and
respect authority.
In conclusion, I
really don't see why there is disagreement. The LSFCA can never be bigger than
LSFA. The issue that attracted this crisis is for the development of Football
in Lagos State. So, why una dey fight? E be like say something dey wey we no
sabi.
The earlier this
unnecessary "wahala" is resolved, the better it will be for Lagos
State Football.
Take these my few words of admonition.
I am Spectator.
