Manchester United
overcame an early deficit to secure a 2–1 home victory over Crystal Palace
at Old Trafford, extending their unbeaten run under interim boss Michael
Carrick.
Palace struck first when Maxence Lacroix
outmuscled Leny Yoro to head in a Brennan Johnson corner.
However, the game turned in United’s favour when Lacroix was sent off and
conceded a penalty for pulling back Matheus Cunha. Bruno Fernandes
calmly converted from the spot before providing the assist for Benjamin
Sesko, whose header gave United the lead.
Sesko, making his first start in seven games, has now
scored seven times in his last eight appearances, silencing critics of his £74
million transfer fee. Fernandes praised the team’s resilience: “It feels like a
big result. We were behind and had to show some character.” United’s haul of 19
points from 21 under Carrick keeps their Champions League hopes alive.
Tottenham Continue to Struggle
Tottenham Hotspur
remain perilously close to the relegation zone after a 2–1 defeat at Fulham,
leaving interim manager Igor Tudor searching for answers. Fulham
dominated the first half with goals from Harry Wilson and Alex Iwobi,
while Richarlison scored a late consolation for Spurs.
Tudor admitted the team’s deficiencies, saying, “We
were not good, lacked everything attacking and defending… We need to stay calm,
believe in what we are doing in training, and get out of trouble, staying all
together.” Tottenham remain the only Premier League side without a win in 2026.
Brighton’s 2–1 victory over relegation rivals Nottingham
Forest—with goals from Diego Gomez and Danny Welbeck—leaves
Forest just two points above the drop zone ahead of a tough midweek trip to
Manchester City.
With United on the rise under Carrick, Tottenham
battling relegation, and City keeping the pressure on Arsenal, the Premier
League continues to deliver high-stakes drama at both ends of the table.
