The Director General of the National Sports Commission
(NSC) has extended heartfelt congratulations to Nigeria’s Eniola Bolaji for her
outstanding achievement at the Egypt Para Badminton International 2025, where
she clinched the gold medal in the women’s SL3 category.
Eniola Bolaji, who previously earned a bronze medal at
the Paralympic Games, delivered a masterful performance in the final, defeating
Sweden’s Hillevi Salomonsson in straight sets (21-1, 21-2).
Speaking on Bolaji’s remarkable success, the Director
General, NSC, lauded her for not only bringing glory to Nigeria but also for
inspiring millions of Nigerians with her resilience, determination, and
excellence. “
Bolaji’s achievement is a testament to the power of
hard work, discipline, and dedication. She has proven once again that Nigerian
athletes can compete and triumph on the global stage,” the DG stated.
The Director General also commended the Badminton
Federation of Nigeria (BFN), under the leadership of Francis Orbih, for their
tireless efforts in developing and promoting the sport in the country.
“This achievement is not just about the athlete but
also a reflection of the excellent work being done by the Badminton Federation
of Nigeria. Under Francis Orbih’s leadership, the BFN has continued to nurture
talent and create opportunities for Nigerian players to shine globally. I
congratulate the entire federation on this monumental success,” the DG added.
Her dominant display throughout the tournament, which
included victories over Shahinda Mohamed (21-7, 21-2), Basma Nabil-Fawzy (21-6,
21-4), and Elizabeth Puma (21-2, 21-4), reaffirms her status as one of the
world’s premier Para Badminton athletes.
According to the Badminton World Federation, Bolaji
has participated in 10 international championships over the past two years,
winning all of them—a feat that underscores her exceptional talent and
consistency.
