The Group Managing Director of Navy Holdings Limited, Rear Admiral Hamza Ibrahim, has announced plans to restructure the company's subsidiaries to improve efficiency, transparency, and profitability.

Speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Suleja, Ibrahim said the organisation, which oversees 11 subsidiaries across Nigeria, is implementing reforms aimed at strengthening management structures and maximising productivity.

According to him, a dedicated land administration department has been established to tackle irregularities and improve oversight. He also disclosed that the company is digitising its operations to enhance transparency, accountability, and payment monitoring.

"We are creating clear visibility in our operations and ensuring that no payment is made into personal accounts," he said.

Ibrahim stressed that improving the welfare of Nigerian Navy personnel remains a priority, noting that better welfare translates into higher morale and improved operational effectiveness.

Focus on Blue Economy and Job Creation

The Navy Holdings chief revealed that the organisation intends to play a significant role in Nigeria's blue economy initiative through marine and fisheries projects, including the proposed Ibom Fish City project.

He explained that the concept was inspired by Egypt's achievements in fish production and is awaiting the necessary government approvals before implementation.

Ibrahim also highlighted plans to unlock the potential of key subsidiaries, particularly the Naval Dockyard, with the goal of creating between 1,000 and 2,000 jobs.

Resolving Disputes Through Dialogue

Addressing inherited disputes involving contractors and the organisation, Ibrahim said efforts are ongoing to resolve outstanding issues amicably.

"I believe there is no problem that cannot be resolved through dialogue," he stated.

Commitment to Youth Development

Beyond his official duties, Ibrahim spoke about his passion for community development through the Foundation for Human Capacity Development and Innovation.

The foundation supports initiatives such as:

  • Spelling Bee competitions
  • Digital boot camps
  • Computer repair training
  • Skills acquisition programmes
  • Character development projects
  • Teacher development workshops

He noted that funding and logistics remain major challenges but emphasized that meaningful community impact often requires personal sacrifice.

Among the projects he is most proud of is the renovation of Angwan Juma Primary School in Suleja, which included the refurbishment of classrooms, staff offices, and the provision of furniture.

Future Plans

Looking ahead, Ibrahim disclosed plans to:

  • Expand holiday coaching programmes for WAEC and JAMB candidates.
  • Continue youth skills acquisition initiatives.
  • Renovate his former secondary school.
  • Establish one of Nigeria's largest e-book centres in Suleja to support learning and research.

He also called on prominent citizens of Suleja and other communities to contribute to development efforts, stressing that assistance is not limited to financial contributions.

"Knowledge and information can also be used to solve community problems," he said.
