The remains of Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah were laid
to rest in his hometown of Nnewi, Anambra State, with dignitaries from various
fields in attendance.
Chief Donatus Agu-Ejidike, the Nigeria Pillar of
Sports, described Senator Ubah’s passing as a great loss to the people of Nnewi
and Nigeria. “He was a brother with whom I shared a passion for sports
philanthropy. His demise will be deeply felt by many,” Chief Agu-Ejidike said.
Senator Ubah was a renowned sports personality,
philanthropist, and grassroots politician. He was the former Chairman of the
Anambra State Football Association and President of FC Ifeanyi Ubah. He also
invested in grassroots development programs, including the “One Family, One
Football” initiative.
Senator Ubah’s contributions to sports will be
remembered for generations to come. He built an international stadium in
Anambra State, established the Ifeanyi Ubah Games Village, and founded FC
Ifeanyi Ubah, which won the Federation Cup in 2016.
The FC Ifeanyi Ubah Youth Academy, which he
established, has a partnership deal with West Ham United of England, a
testament to his commitment to youth development and empowerment.
As the sports and political fraternity bid farewell to
Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, his legacy will continue to inspire and motivate others
to follow in his footsteps. May his soul rest in peace.
