Excellency Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru at the Abakaliki stadium on Saturday during
the kickoff of the new NNL season.
Chairman of Nigeria National League (NNL), George Aluo
has lauded the referees who handled last weekend’s season opener between
Abakiliki FC and Madiba at the Abakaliki stadium.
Aluo while still basking in the euphoria of the
successful kickoff noted that the center referee and his two ARs were near
perfect in the way they handled the game.
“I must commend the referees for good officiating.
They were fair and bold. Osas Alohan the centre referee from Edo
State and his two Assistants Festus German and Favour Bogwu all from Delta
State did their best in interpreting the rules.”
“I m delighted that we have started on a good note and
I want to see that kind of performance from all the referees as the season
gathers momentum from this weekend. We want a situation where any club that
deserves a win or draw on the road will get it.”
Aluo was also impressed with the conduct of fans and
supporters club of Abakaliki FC in the opener… “I must commend supporters of
the home team for conducting themselves very well. Football is about friendship
and not war. Football as a beautiful game unites all. We want a violent free
2024/2025 season.”
